Books liberated from the garbage

Books I was able to fit into my backpack on a ride home that were in a garbage heap outside a used bookstore. Most were intentional but the last small handful just came from the best box when I realized I still had a bit of space to stuff in a few more, having shifted everything else previously in my backpack to my bike basket, and didn't want to keep standing in the street next to a busy road as it got dark when I still had a couple of kilometers to go.

The most surprising thing to me about liberating these books from the coming rain and garbage trucks is that in the about 10 minutes I spent going through the 10 or so boxes not one single other soul who either walked or biked by seemed to even glance at them even though I was quite clearly pulling up fistfuls and plunking them on the bench next to me. I felt quite completely like The Invisible Book Liberator.

That is a great haul.
Well, except that LinkedIn book. But, you didn't pay for it, so... *shrug*

Can I just say, if you haven't, read the Vonnegut. That contains one of my favourite short stories.
