tetsabSo I sat down during Official Saturday Writing Group time all set to do the what-I-thought-was-annual review of all the nice life-y things I did over the past year only to discover the first (and more critically!) last of those was for 2015(!). So to the best of my recollections (which evening_tsar, sabotabby & the_siobhan can now attest is very far from actually 'the best') here are the Nice Life-y Things (as transcribed from the Google Calendar of Poor Notes):

- 1st. My first New Years 100% sober since god knows when in childhood (if you didn't know, I'm from Europe). I brought some fruit juice and drove Etienne and Dimitry to the east end on departure from the Gin Place and consider it a Great Life Choice for starting that year.
- 12th. Streetcar to the Fox Theatre after work to catch the Peggy Guggenheim doc. Happy I did even though it meant marching home afterwards in the Damn Cold.
- 16h. Opera excerpts at the former Hamilton Place ('cause, as framed in last post, former university friend had a pop-up role in it with his choir)
- 21st. Fundraiser from my organization, which is always a fascinating circus. Co-worker stayed with me afterward, since being a not-for-profit we try to reduce costs wherever possible, but was then unfortunately tortured for a couple of hours by my asshole loud music playing neighbours since I took the couch as he was a guest
- 22nd. Requiem at the TSO. Staggeringly beautiful if you closed your eyes and less so if you kept them open.
- 28th. Symphonie Fantastique with my sister at the TSO
- (29th) was supposed to have lunch with a friend for my birthday but she had car trouble. Drove myself to a local Thai place the next day instead for my fake birthday. Headed back to Banff for another work retreat the day after that.
- 24th. Toronto Women in Tech pub meet
- 26th. I-don't-care-how-cold-it-is-I'm-going Prophesy event
- 16th. Lunch with new university friend at my beloved Ethopian House
- 22nd. Lecture about my beloved Bach at a place I'd walked by my entire Toronto life but never been to until that moment
- 25th. Birthday brunch for old highschool friend (OHF)
- 2nd. Dad's birthday party
- 9th (& 10th & 24th). Help set-up the new Sharing Depot at the Danforth Tool Library
- 17th. Visit the Royal Botanical Garden in Burlington with old uni friend (OUF)
- 23rd. Women in tech webinar
- 23rd. Got my epically flat bike tires pumped back up at the local EcoDay & got a recommendation for a pump to buy
- 30th. More beloved Bach, this time aptly from the BachElgar choir (which is the choir OUF performs in)
- 13th. Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5, K. 219 "Turkish" & Shostakovich: Symphony No. 13 “Babi Yar” at the TSO with OUF
- 14th. TCAF! and more Ethiopian House also with OUF
- 21st. Head to Oshawa with OHF to shop for the bulk of our Iceland camping food & head back for Sab's bday
- 25th. Tafelmusik's 'Tales of Two Cities: The Leipzig-Damascus Coffee House' (even though it was in Hamilton, where OUF lives, I went alone like a crazy person) ;)
- 26th. Sabs student art show
- 28th. Visit parent's in Pickering
- 4th-16th. Camping around the Icelandic ring road with OHF
- 18th. Launch of a community new bike hub 2 blocks from my house
- 25th. Bells on the Danforth group bike ride
- 1st. Bike in Scarborough Canada Day parade with the Toronto East Cyclists
- 2nd. Axel bday thing
- 9th. Help E&D pack for move in the morning; go to 'the Feast in the East' in the evening
- 12th. First ever bike commute to work now that the office has moved from Parkdale to Yonge and Davenport
- 13th-16th. Camping / hiking on Manitoulin Island with OUF
- 17th. CycleTO/Scarborough Cycles Pan Am Path group ride
- 20th. TO women in tech pub night
- 30th. Night out with family visiting from the UK
- 31st. Alls Well that Ends Well with OUF
- 6th. Drop in DIY bike repair
- 11th. Community Day in local park in the morning; sister's birthday dinner in the evening
- 20th. Midsummer Night's Dream at the RBG with OUF
- 26th. Walk down to Saint James Park after work for A Winter's Tale
- 27th. Newly annual trip the CNE with my Mum
- 3rd. Walk from my house to Greenwood Park for the Guinea Pig picnic then walk to the Imperial Pub to meet the writing group then go to Withrow Park with evening_tsar for mildly gender queer Romeo & Juliet
- 4th. Ontario Science Centre also with university tsar
- 7th. Walk from the Michael Garron Hospital (where I had a mid afternoon appointment) to the Aga Khan Museum for the last day of their Fantastic Beasts exhibit
- 9th. Back to Hamilton for the Supercrawl again with OUF
- 10th. Off to hike around Mountsberg conservation area with OUF & see the raptors (ows!) & then to Pickering for family BBQ
- 17th. Church book sale at Polish Fest on Roncesvalles with OUF (who happens to be half Polish :P).
- 20th. Biodiversity with Native Plants talk at local community centre
- 29th. First day of jury duty selection :P
- 30th. The Leveller's with the TO crew
- 1st. Hang out in an artist's greenhouse as part of HamiltonCultureWorks with OUF
- 8th. Bike the creek trail with OUF to Mount Pleasant Cemetery for dead people tour
- 21st. Film about introducing renewables in Nova Scotia
- 29th. Halloween at Rai's
- 30th. Fox theatre with Rai for The Man Who Laughs
- 1st. Toronto East Cyclists meeting
- 4th. Indian Food with OUF in Hamilton for delayed bday
- 5th. Canadian Folksong showcase with the BachElgar choir in the morning and Copper Lassie (country Iron Maiden) at the Linsmore in the evening
- 12th. Pub with family visiting from California
- 19th. BachElgar folksong performance / NaDruWriNi
- 21st. UofT media archivists sale / reading the pulse of TO talk
- 26th. US Thanksgiving in Guelph with E&D and some of the TO crew
- 3rd. A mysterious no-further-details-given 'holiday party' followed by goth video dance party with the TO crew
- 6th. Annual winter pub night with the Toronto East Cyclists
- 8th. Information management social at a fancy pants Keg downtown :P
- 10th. More writing group beers (and probably writing too)
- 27th. Punk Rock Film night with the TO crew at Rick's
- 30th. Last Prophecy night of the year
- 31st. NYE at Sabs
