A mere 2 years late: 2018 'Nice Life-y Things' Post

2 years late 'nice life-y things' post pairs well with the 'took more than half a year to clear' "first 4 tasks". But do them I did. Transportation Plan? Done by July 16th in order to be in time to submit a letter to the community council on the cycling portion. Email catch-up? Got personal inbox from 145 items down to 6. Mortgage/Modem/Hydro? All done as of August 4th **dusts hands**.

So that, then, brings us to task #5: "Write here more". This particular post is easy done 'cause all I had to do was write what's visible outside of the cut tag and then everything that follows was already written up at some point I've lost track of in the past. If it was already written why wasn't it posted? That is something I'll answer in a future post but, for, now:

January

• 01st: Hopped my way home from Sab's NYE party on my crutches (RE: the whole hit by a car thing from last year's life-y list)


• 06th: Writing Beers


• 14th: Flight to Florida with my Mum (used cane rather than crutches and transitioned to mostly cane on return barring highly snowy days)


• 24th: Flight back (parents were driving home some weeks later)


• 27th: Burns Night at the evening_tsar's brother's place near High Park


• 30th: East York Historical Society meeting on Stanley Grizzle (tried to take myself for Vietnamese food after but the restaurant closed an hour earlier than its stated hours!)


• 31st: East End Cyclists Meet-up at The Dylan bar

February

• 01st: Scarborough Studies symposium at UofT Scarborough (plus bonus Hourly Comics Day participation)


• 03rd: Colouring & Crafting gothy night (made a snowflake out of beads that now hangs in my kitchen window as the Craft)


• 09th: At the pub with inulro and co.


• 13th: Ethiopian Food with Rai


• 18th: Mozart, Arriaga & Schubert from Hammer Baroque with evening_tsar


• 22nd: Wheels on the Danforth planning meeting 1


• 24th: Selections from Gilbert & Sullivan from the Bach Elgar Choir (drove Mum to Hamilton & back, 'tsar performing)

March

• 04th: Rai's Oscar Party (& this time I'd actually seen, like, a whole 2 films instead of my usual 0!)


• 06th: Beers with former co-worker followed by local community meeting


• 08th: Bells on Danforth planning meeting 1


• 11th: The Phantom Thread, film with my sister


• 12th: Toronto Revealed exhibit at the Reference Library


• 14th: Toronto East Cyclists meeting


• 15th: Wheels on Danforth planning 2


• 17th: Jesus Christ Superstar recording with Choir!Choir!Choir! & Kevin Quain in a local church thanks to Acoustic Harvest in the evening!


• 18th: Flight to Calgary (for work but still nice -- less nice that I missed Xymox due to it but can't win them all!)


• 24th: Community meeting in the morning, trip to a door's open at a Coptic Church in the afternoon, and games at my friend's in the evening

• 28th: Bike to Work Day (yes, my 1st time back on a bike since the bloody accident)

June

• 04th: Bells planning 3 (technically 4 but I was in Europe for 3)

• 14th: East York Swimming (had some new physio exercises to try & in a fit of bad timing my usual pool was closed for the summer)


• 16th: Bells on Danforth event (I stayed at the end point to help rather than go on the ride)

• 23rd: Colouring & Crafting 2 craft was a decorative box & tsar came to this one)


• 25th: Bells wrap meeting


• 28th: Drinks with departing co-worker & then off to the Scarborough Cycling Summit

July

• 01st: Most of Porch Stories (but no desire to ever bother seeing the end) and then walked past my 1st shooting scene on the way to Cat vs. Bat with 'tsar


• 04th: The Pursuit of Happiness (behold the classic Queen W.) in a local park


• 07th: My favourite local event: Feast in the East (free oddball music & vegan food in one of my closest parks)


• 10th: "I'm Your Man" showing at Yonge/Dundas Square


• 12th: Bells appreciation event


• 14th: Ride the Dundas rail trail with 'tsar


• 15th: Bells on Danforth grant report writing (tried to go swimming in the fancy outdoor pool after only to find it had been cleared due to someone soiling it :P )


• 17th: Toronto Women in Tech drinks


• 18th: Progressive Candidates strategy meeting & Toronto Cruisers ride


• 21st: [Calendar says Bike Party & then Dracula's Daughter but I'm not sure I actually made it to either o_O]


• 25th: Wheels planning 4


• 27th: Interview coaching call (happy to report coaching was successful: guy got a job a couple of months later)

• 31st: Wicked (& having seen Fun Home earlier this year there are officially no musicals I'm aware of I have any further interest in seeing)

• 27th: Phantom of the Opera silent film with live organ in a church for tsar's birthday

November

• 03rd: Friend's mother's 60th birthday party

• 01st: Stormcrow Manor with visiting silentq and co.

• 11th: Toronto East Cyclists social (which I ironically drove to in order to make it on time :P)


• 23rd: Tsar's holiday party


• 24th: Christmas Eve dinner with a chunk of Tsar's family


• 25th: Christmas dinner & board games with my sister and 2 other folks who had a shit year


• 31st: NYE dinner and games with my Mum and sister

I'm sorry that you got hit by a car in 2017. Did you eventually recover fully?

Thanks -- it was indeed Rather Pants.

I'm not technically fully recovered but I'm also not in daily pain. I was still in physio when the pandemic hit so now I'm kind of just in a holding pattern. I still have obvious restriction of movement in the leg that was hit so that's what we were working on.
